Masala Chai

Masala chai, also known as spiced tea, is a popular Indian beverage made by brewing black tea with a blend of aromatic spices and milk. It is a flavorful and comforting drink that is enjoyed throughout the day. Here's a traditional recipe for making masala chai:

Ingredients:

- 2 cups water

- 1 cup milk

- 2 teaspoons black tea leaves (or 2 tea bags)

- 2-3 green cardamom pods, crushed

- 1 cinnamon stick

- 2-3 cloves

- 1 small piece of ginger, grated or crushed

- Sugar (to taste)

Instructions:

1. In a saucepan, add water and bring it to a boil.

2. Once the water starts boiling, add crushed cardamom pods, cinnamon stick, cloves, and grated ginger to the pan.

3. Allow the spices to simmer in the water for about 2-3 minutes to release their flavors.

4. Add black tea leaves or tea bags to the pan and simmer for another 2-3 minutes.

5. Pour milk into the pan and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.

6. Reduce the heat and let the chai simmer for a few more minutes, allowing the flavors to blend together.

7. Add sugar according to your taste preferences and stir well until it dissolves.

8. Turn off the heat and strain the masala chai into cups or a teapot to remove the tea leaves and spices.

9. Serve hot and enjoy the aromatic and flavorful masala chai.

Note: The recipe can be adjusted to suit your taste. You can increase or decrease the amount of spices, milk, or sugar as per your preference. Some variations also include adding crushed fennel seeds, black peppercorns, or a pinch of nutmeg for extra flavor.

Masala chai is often enjoyed with biscuits or veggie pakora or other savory snacks and is perfect for cozy mornings or evenings.
